Artist Profile

About the Artist:
Sandie was born in Westfield, New York. She grew up in New York and Ohio before moving west to California in her late teens. She was tutored in art by her father when she was very young, and later studied art at California State University. She admired her father as a professional illustrator, and dreamed of following in his footsteps. She worked as an illustrator in her earlier years and then as a technical writer and illustrator while raising her three daughters as a single parent.

An affair of the heart brought her to the Coeur d’Alene area and a love affair with the Northwest has kept her here. Sandie says, “I felt like I came home when I moved to the Northwest”. She continues, “I can’t imagine life without painting. It brings such joy to me, as well as allows me to share a part of my soul with others”. As she talks about her work one gets a sense of how art has helped her see the bright side of life and brought her inner healing.

Today Sandie’s illustrations and paintings can be found in private collections throughout the US, Canada and Europe. She is a qualified instructor in both oil painting and watercolors. Her subject matter includes florals, portraits, landscapes and animals. She is a member of the Art Study Club of Coeur d’Alene and the Coeur d’Alene Art Association. She has been in several Art Shows throughout the Northwest. Currently her works are on display for sale at The Frame of Mind Art Gallery in Coeur d’Alene.
