About the Artist:
I became interested in art when young but did not actively involve myself until I was in my thirties. Although mostly self taught, I did obtain professional instruction through an artist league in Arkansas and later attended the Southern Atelier in Sarasota Florida. Both organizations helped my tremendously in my understanding of drawing and painting. I have won awards for my art at several small shows in Arkansas and Currently have artwork displayed at the Cotton Wood Art Center in Colorado Springs. I'm drawn mostly to realism and greatly admirer works by Dutch and Flemish Masters. Most of my subjects are still life but hope to branch out into portraits and landscapes. I consider myself and emerging artist and constantly learning and growing. I have worked in pastels but love working in oils.
For me art is an exploration and study of what is seen and the emotions behind what is seen. I would like the viewer to find rest and enjoyment in my work.
